What is All-on-4?

All-on-4 is a method developed by Nobel Biocare in which a completely toothless jaw is restored with just four implants. A fixed bridge of 10 to 12 teeth rests on these four implants. Unlike conventional approaches that can require a separate implant for each tooth, four strategically placed implants suffice here.

Treatment process

• Digital 3D planning of implant position and bridge
• Placement of the four implants under local anaesthesia
• Fitting of a temporary, fixed bridge — usually the same day
• Healing phase, during which the bone fuses with the implants
• Fitting of the final bridge, ideally in zirconia

Who is All-on-4 suitable for?

The procedure is particularly suitable for people with complete tooth loss, loose dentures or advanced tooth loss. Even with reduced bone volume, All-on-4 can often be applied, because the rear implants are placed at an angle to make optimal use of available bone — frequently without extensive bone grafting.

Advantages over classic methods

Compared with treatments using 8 to 10 single implants, All-on-4 is noticeably more economical and faster. You usually leave the clinic with fixed teeth the same day — a clear gain in comfort over removable dentures.

Durability

With good care and regular check-ups the implants themselves last a lifetime. The bridge on top lasts 15 to 25 years depending on the material; zirconia structures are among the most durable options.
